Krishna Janmashtami Celebration at Jagran Lakecity University!

On the occasion of Lord Krishna’s birthday, Janmashtami was celebrated with immense ardour and excitement at Jagran Lakecity University on 31st August 2018. The Supreme Lord descends from time to time to re-establish the teachings of the Vedas. In His Bhagavad-gita, Sri Krishna promises: “Whenever and wherever there is a decline in religious practice, O descendant of Bharata, and a predominant rise of irreligion-at that time I descend Myself. To deliver the pious and to annihilate the miscreants, as well as to re-establish the principles of religion, I Myself appear millennium after millennium”.


Organized by the Student Service Cell, Janmashtami brought much delight and spirit of unity among all the students. The event consisted of two competitions Matki Decoration and Matki Phod, where the assortments of students from different semesters and streams participated in the competitions. Major efforts were made to give the festival an extremely decorative look. Three teams were chosen; namely Spartans, Taabad and Gopala for the ‘Matki Phod’ competition. With great spirit and gusto, team Gopala secured the first place with the record time of 22 seconds. Followed by the cutthroat competition for the second place held between teams Spartans and Taabad, where with the notch up time of 16 seconds, team Spartans won the Runner-Up round.



Ashi Pawaiya, a young Jagranite studying BA Hons, Psychology won the Matki Decoration Competition, where Areesha Sharma from B. Sc HHA secured the second position. All the Matkis were beautifully decorated with handcrafted ornaments and laces to stand out unique and exquisite among the others. 


Janmashtami designed an environment of serenity and solace among students. With loads of ongoing fun activities, students were lost in the rapture of Dahi Handi songs and dances played in the benediction of Lord Krishna. Finally, the day ended with roars reaching to every corner of the campus as all the students applauded up for the teams in ‘Dahi Handi’ competition. It was a moment of glory for the Dahi Handi winning team. To say it all, the campus was replenished with triumph and smiles adorned on everyone’s’ faces.
