Jagran LakecityUniversity, Central India’s Global University has become the first Private University of Madhya Pradesh and the only one in Bhopal to go LIVE on DigiLocker. This marvelous feat towards achieving 100% paperless and digitized process has been achieved due to the quality digital infrastructure at JLU and continuous unwavering support towards it from the management.

JLU being on DigiLocker gives an edge to its students by providing them a safe E-Locker for all their documents on the go. Apart from the educational records, all other documents like driving license, PAN card, etc. can also be uploaded and e-verified for ease of access. It is also linked to the Adhaar Number to give the assurance of safety. JLU is also among the first 100 educational institutions in the whole country to mark its presence at the DigiLocker portal.

Launched in 2015 by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, DigiLocker is one of the four essential layers of India Stack and has been a platform for issuance and verification of documents and certificates in a digital way, thus constituting the paperless layer of India Stack. DigiLocker allows users to avail themselves of a dedicated cloud storage space of up to 1 GB free of cost. It is available both on websites and mobile apps. It works as a digital locker to store all documents. Linked to both Aadhaar card and cellphone numbers, DigiLocker eliminates the use of physical documents as part of the government’s Digital India drive, since all data is stored in the cloud.

The students of JLU can now upload all their academic documents (Degree, Marksheets, Certificates, Diplomas, etc) online and can access them worldwide.  They can also e-sign these uploaded documents, which works like the self-attestation of physical documents. This makes the organizing of documents much easier and DigiLocker is connected to online services such as Mutual Funds, Registrar, etc which can provide easy paperless KYC for the students.

Mr. Abhishek Mohan Gupta, Pro-Chancellor, Jagran Lakecity University

Pro-chancellor of JLU, Abhishek Mohan Gupta quotes: “At JLU, we are working towards transforming our digital infrastructure to meet the growing demands of the pandemic, and also maintain our global standards of education. The efforts involved re-imagination of processes and digitalization of student support systems. Becoming part of the Digilocker is one more step successfully taken in the said direction. We are happy to announce that our vision and team’s focused efforts made us the first private university in Madhya Pradesh with this service available to the students.

Students of the present generation adopt any new technology with ease. Hence the DigiLocker service will enable the students to avail various online government and private services such as passport application, employment exchange, document verification, background verification, etc. It’ll not only save time but also ensures that the documents are shared securely with no involvement of any third party.

Digital Infrastructre at JLU

On March 2021, Union Education Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal, announced to link the NCTE certificates to DigiLocker to ensure easy access to verified OTPRMS (Teacher and Student Registration Management System in Line), and the registration fee of Rs 200, issued by NCTE to obtain OTPRMS certificates had been eliminated.
