National conference on ‘Changing Paradigm of Corporate and Commercial Laws’

This article is about on such initiative taken by the outstanding, Faculty of Law.
Faculty of Law organized a two-day virtual National Conference on “Changing Paradigm of Corporate and Commercial Laws”under the aegis of its two centres – JLU-Taxmann Centre for Excellence in Taxation Laws (CETL) and Centre for Competition and Investment Laws and Policy (CCILP) – in collaboration with Taxmann on 19th and 20thJune, 2021.
For the conference a total of 53 registrations were received and 50 paper presentations were made by professionals, academicians, research scholars and students from across the country.
The virtual inaugural ceremony was graced by the presence of Shri. V. Lakshmikumaran. Founder and Managing Partner, Lakshmikumaran and Sridharan, as the Chief Guest, and Prof. (Dr.) Kanwal DP Singh, School of Law and legal Studies, GGSPIU, as the Guest of Honor. Mr. Lakshmikumaran spoke on the convergence of law and technology while Prof. Kanwal DP Singh talked about the changing landscape of direct taxation during the COVID pandemic.
First day of the conference on 19thJune, had a batch of three parallel technical sessions chaired by subject-experts. First day technical sessions featured the following external experts along with our faculty members:
· Mr. Amit Pratap Singh, from NLIU Bhopal
· Mr. Abhishek Mishra, from Jindal Global Law School
· Advocate Rohit Dubey, from JMVD Legal
Day one of the conference also included a thought-provoking Panel Discussion which featured Mr. V.N. Dubey, Managing Partner at JMVD Legal, and Mr. C. Ramachandra Rao, General Manager (Legal Affairs) Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India.
The themed of the session was “Changing Contours of Insolvency and Bankruptcy Law in India”.
The second day on 20th June, had one more batch of three parallel technical sessions that featured the following external experts along with our faculty members:
1. Dr. Anindhya Tiwari, from GD Goenka University
2. Dr. Prateek Deol, from Amity University Jaipur, Mr. Avinash Singh, from SOA University, Orissa
3. Dr. Arti Aneja, from Faculty of Law, Delhi University
The conference was wrapped up with a wonderful valedictory ceremony with Dr. K.D. Singh, Director at Anti-trust Division, Competition Commission of India, as the Chief Guest, and Prof. (Dr.) Rajni Abbi, Faculty of Law, Delhi University, as the Guest of Honor.
Prof. (Dr.) Sandeep Shastri, Vice Chancellor, JLU, and Prof. (Dr.) Yogendra Kumar Srivastava, Dean, Faculty of Law, also graced both inaugural and valedictory ceremonies with their benign presence.
The team behind the conference includes Faculty in-charge of CETL and CCILP Dr. Ankit Singh as the Convener along with CETL Coordinator Mr. Rohit Mishra and CCILP Coordinator Ms. Aisha Khan as Co-conveners, backed by a dedicated team of students.
