The One Week Refresher Course organized by JLU School of Law from 2nd July- 7th July for Law Teachers in memory of Prof. (Dr.) N. R Madhava Menon and his Exemplary Contribution to Indian Legal Education was one of its kind which can be very well illustrated by the number of resource persons who conveyed their addresses in this course and also by the number of participants who participated in the course. The event was inaugurated in the gracious presence of Prof. (Dr.) V. Vijay Kumar, Vice – Chancellor, The National Law Institute University, Bhopal, Prof. M. R.K Prasad, Principal, Salgaoncar Law College, Goa Prof. Dr. Vivek Khare, Registrar, Jagran Lakecity University, Bhopal, Prof. Dr. Yogendra Kumar Srivastava, Dean Student Welfare and Director, School of Law, Jagran Lakecity University, Bhopal  and Dr. Yash Tiwari, Convenor, Refresher Course. The welcome address was delivered by Prof. Dr. Yogendra Kumar Srivastava, Dean Student Welfare and Director, JLU School of Law, Jagran Lakecity University where welcomed all the dignitaries on the dais and off the dais and also insisted on the importance of such refresher course.  Moving ahead the first session was on Clinical Legal Education as an effective pedagogy in legal learning and the resource person for the first session was Prof. M. R.K Prasad, Principal, Salgaoncar Law College. He emphasized upon the relevance and importance clinical legal education in the present scenario.


The second day of the refresher course started with Prof. (Dr.) Sairam Bhat, Professor & Coordinator, CEERA, NLSIU, Bengaluru, presenting a session on Environmental Law Compliances. He elaborated upon importance of the concept of Environmental Clearance both for the academicians as well as professional and moving ahead he also discussed the various stages that are involved in getting these environmental clearances both Central and State Ministry of Environment. The second session was on Corporate Social Responsibility delivered by Dr. Abhishek Lakhtakia, Chief Strategy Officer, JSW Foundation. The session started by discussing the genesis of the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility and the change of phase from philanthropy to obligation. He further discussed about the statutory provision regarding Corporate Social Responsibility provided under the Companies Act, 2013.  The third session was on Methods of Teaching and Learning Law rendered by Prof. (Dr.) Ghayur Alam, Professor in Business Law & MHRD Chair of IP Law, NLIU, Bhopal. His lecture emphasized upon the various methods those are involved in teaching. The next session was on Defects in Investigation in Criminal Trial delivered by Dr. Amit Mehrotra, Professor, National Judicial Academy, Bhopal where he laid emphasis upon the challenges faced during the investigation by the authorities.


The third day of the course began by a session delivered by Prof. (Dr.) G.S Bajpai, Registrar, National Law University, Delhi on Evolution of Critical Criminal Law. His lecture threw light upon the need for critically analysing a concept and what amounts to critical analysis. He further discussed about what critical analysis includes in it. The second session was handled by Dr. Babugauda Patil, Associate Professor, Salgaoncar Law College on Model Legal Aid Clinic: Opportunities and Challenges. His session was based upon the intricacies of Legal Aid and its relevance in India. He further discussed the various reforms that can be brought in existing legal aid clinic. The next session was on Environmental Law Ethics, a lecture rendered by Prof. (Dr.) Rajiv Kumar Khare, Professor of Law & Chair Professor, Consumer Protection and Welfare, NLIU, Bhopal. The session provided an insight upon the contemporary significance of the said topic its change in form in the recent world. The last session was taken by Prof. Dr. V.K Vinod Kumar Dixit, Professor of Law, National Law Institute University, Bhopal on Competition Law. The session was based on four cardinal  aspects of Competition Act, 2002.
Day four of the refresher course started with a session on Smart Phones vs. Smart Teachers: Changing paradigm of Pedagogy. The resource person for this session was Prof. (Dr.) V.C Vivekanandan, Professor of Law & Dean, School of Law, Bennett University, Noida. He discussed the concept of smart phone vs. Smart teachers and what are the key elements to connect so as to become as a smart teacher. The second session was on Law and Justice by Dr. Puneeth Associate Professor, Center for the Study of Law and Governance, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. He delivered a lecture upon what amounts to law and justice and also made an attempt to define what justice is. The next session was handled by Prof. (Dr.) V. Vijay kumar, NLIU, Bhopal on Interdisciplinary Teaching. In his lecture he discussed the relevance and need for adopting interdisciplinary approach in the present education system. He also discussed what does interdisciplinary teaching in law actually means. The last session was on Law and society. The resource person for this session was Dr. Bir Pal Singh, Assistant Professor, National Law Institute University, Bhopal. His session began by discussing the problems faced by the society in maintenance of social order.  He further discussed the concept of law and morality and professionalism and ethics.
